LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 18, 2021) – The Wyoming women's tennis team continues its three-week road stretch with a trip to Creighton this Saturday for a 4 p.m., match with the Bluejays in Omaha. The Cowgirls are coming off a 7-0 loss at Colorado February 13.
"We are excited to get on the road again and work on the things we've practiced this week," said Head Coach Dean Clower.
"I fully expect we will grow from this past week and continue learning our style of play. Creighton is a very good team and we will need to be on our 'A' game for this battle."
Last week at Colorado, the doubles team of Mihaela Kaftanova and Ida Krause got a win at the No. 3 doubles position, defeating CU's Megan Forster and Maria Campos, 7-6 (7-4). With the win, the tandem of Kaftanova and Krause improved to 4-2 this season. As a team, the Cowgirls are 11-6 (64.7 percent) this season in doubles play.
The Cowgirls are in search of their first true road-match victory of 2021. After Saturday's match, Wyoming will hit the road one last time, Feb. 27 at Northern Arizona before hosting its first home match since 2019, March 5, as Weber State comes to town.
Creighton is 3-0 so far this season and last played Feb. 7 at home against Missouri State, defeating the Bears 4-1 at the Hanscom Tennis Courts.
