DENVER, Colo. (Feb. 13, 2021) – Nine members of the Wyoming Cowgirl swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the First Chance Invite on Saturday morning in Denver.
Freshman
Madeline Bane continued her solid weekend with a time of 53.76 in the 100 freestyle to place sixth, which was a career-best. Junior
Rachel Pietsch was eighth with her career-high time of 54.08. She was followed by fellow junior
Molly Green who touched the wall in 54.12. Sophomore
Sarah Owens posted a time of 54.82 followed by
Jocelyn Petersen with a recorded time of 55.29.
In the 200 breaststroke, freshman
Zoe Robison touched the wall in a career-best time of 2:29.45. Bane went a season-best time of 59.39 in the 100 butterfly. Pietsch went a career-best 1:00.43 to finish in 11
th.
Sophomore Oliva Staver finished second in the 500 freestyle with her season-best time of 5:08.29. Fellow sophomore
Claire Becker touched the wall in 5:17.99 to finish in fifth.
Robison closed out the meet with an eighth place time of 2:16.08 in the 200 IM.
Up next, the Cowgirl swimming and diving teams are scheduled to compete in the 2021 Mountain West Championships. The swimmers will begin the four-day event on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the Buchanan Natatorium in Las Vegas, Nev. The divers will be back in Colorado Springs, on Thursday, Feb. 18, at the Cadet Natatorium.
