LARAMIE, Wyo. (11/20/21) – The University of Wyoming swimming & diving team has embraced its hectic last 72 hours. The Cowboys and Cowgirls competed at the Missouri Invite from Wednesday-Friday only to return home and host the Corbett Invite at Laramie High School on Saturday.
The team is understandably tired, but that didn't stop many from logging impressive marks Saturday. A total of 13 lifetime-best times were recorded.
"Character is a good way of phrasing it," head coach
Dave Denniston said. "And just overall grittiness. Everyone talks about grit in our sport. That type of stuff makes me real proud of this team. They love racing, they love seeing what they can do, and the support they have for each other to get up and do that is inspiring for the whole team and for us as a staff."
Numerous individuals registered multiple first-place finishes Saturday. Senior
Andrea Niemann, junior
Robert Mitchell, sophomore
John Wargin and freshmen
Gavin Smith,
Sydney Metzler,
Rachel Horne and
