LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 14, 2021) – The Wyoming Cowgirls look to snap their three-game losing streak as the Cowgirls return home to host Air Force January 16 and 18, their third and fourth games in eight days. Saturday's contest is set for 2 p.m., while Monday is a 6:30 p.m. tip-off.
Both games will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network and can be heard across the 25 stations of the Cowgirl Radio Network with Keith Kelley on the call.
A LOOK AT THE COWGIRLS
After dropping a pair of contests at Boise State earlier in the week, UW sits at 4-5 overall and 2-4 in Mountain West play. BSU won game one in the series 68-61 and game two 68-62. In the game one loss, McKinley Bradshaw scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the floor, including going 4-of-5 from 3-point range. It marked the second consecutive game a Cowgirl scored 27 points as Alba Sanchez Ramos also tallied 27 against Fresno State Jan. 4. Bradshaw, who came off the bench in the contest, became the first UW player to score 20-plus off the bench since February of 2020.
Bradshaw leads the team in scoring at 13.9 points per game and is shooting nearly 48 percent from the floor and leads the conference and is ninth nationally with a 53.8 percent 3-point percentage on the year. Sanchez Ramos is second on the team in scoring at 12.8 per while Dagny Davidsdottir is still leading the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. Tommi Olson's 41 assists rank third in the Mountain West and Olson also leads the team with 14 steals.
SCOUTING AIR FORCE
Air force enters the series with the Cowgirls at 3-6 overall and a 1-3 mark in conference play. The Falcons are 1-3 on the road this season and gave Boise State its only loss of the season thus far, a 76-52 victory at Air Force.
The Falcons are led by Riley Snyder's 17.6 points per game, a mark that ranks fourth-best in the league. Briana Autrey is the other Falcon scoring in double figures this season, averaging 13.9 per contest. Autrey leads the team with 32 steals and 37 assists this season. Emily Controe leads the team with 6.6 rebounds per game and is second on the team with 23 steals and three blocks. Kassady Huffman has a team-best 12 rejections in 2020-21. Air Force is averaging 66 points per game this season and allowing opponents to score 70.6. The Falcons are shooting 37.7 percent from the floor and just 28.5 percent from 3-point range.
AFA is led by sixth-year head coach Chris Gobrecht.
SERIES AGAINST AIR FORCE
The Cowgirls have dominated the series with Air Force, leading all time 53-3 and is undefeated in Laramie against the Falcons. AFA last won in the series back in 2018, winning 57-47 in Colorado Springs.
