FORT COLLINS, Colo. (March 22, 2019) – The Wyoming throwers kicked off the outdoor season on Friday, as the hammer throw was the only event on the first day of the Fum McGraw Open in Fort Collins, Colo. Junior
Eric McArthur won the event, pacing three Cowboys in the top five.
McArthur's toss of 192 feet, 10 inches, was more than a foot ahead of second place, as he opened his outdoor campaign with a bang. Sophomore
Kirk Unland placed third with a throw of 190-3, while junior
Hap Frketich took fifth, throwing the hammer 180 feet, five inches.
For the Cowgirls, senior
Emelda Malm-Annan took third with a throw of 187-8. Junior
Anna Gillis recorded a throw of 170-7, while sophomore
Addison Henry had a throw of 167-3 to finish eighth. Freshman
Cosette Stellern placed 15
th with a throw of 120-0.
The Pokes return to action tomorrow for the rest of the Fum McGraw Open.
