ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (February 21, 2019) – The Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships started Thursday with the men's and women's pentathlon, but the Pokes officially tossed their hats in the ring with the distance medley relay, the final two races of the evening.
The Cowgirl team of
Zia Macdermid,
Jasmyne Cooper,
Solana Quistorff and
Kacey Doner ran an altitude adjusted time of 11:43.99 (11:54.81 actual) to place sixth, earning three points in the team standings. That time is fourth all-time at Wyoming, the fifth year in a row the Cowgirls posted a top-four Wyoming DMR time at the MW Indoor Championships. Macdermid opened the race with the 1,200m section, followed by Cooper's 400m split. She handed the baton to Quistorff for the 800m portion, and Doner ran the 1,600m to finish the race.
Boise State took the DMR tile with an altitude adjusted time of 11:00.29, while New Mexico placed second in 11:18.99.
The Cowboy squad of
Harry Ewing,
Tyler Dahl,
Phillip Thomas and
Jonah Henry took sixth with an altitude-adjusted time of 10:04.29 (10:13.57 actual). They earned three team points, and their time is 10
th all-time at Wyoming. Ewing kicked off the race with the 1,200m leg, and Dahl took the baton for the quick 400m section. Thomas received the baton for the 800m leg, and Henry wrapped up the race with the 1,600m run. This is the second year in a row the Cowboys' DMR team recorded a UW top-10 time.
Boise State won the race with an altitude adjusted time of 9:42.94, while Colorado State took second with a time of 9:44.14.
