Madison, Wis. (October 18, 2019) – The Wyoming men's cross country team went up against a tough field at the Wisconsin-hosted Nuttycombe Invitational, and placed 23^rd as a team with 596 points following the eight-kilometer race. The Cowboys finished ahead of one nationally-ranked team, the No. 12 Syracuse squad which placed 24^th.
 
"We had a few guys who had bad days for different reasons, but we also had a few guys who stepped up and ran really well," said head coach Scott Dahlberg. "As a team, we were looking for a better place, and in a field of that quality, a rough day shows up bigger."
 
Senior Harry Ewing was Wyoming's top finisher with a time of 24:24.2 to place 65^th overall. It's the third time in his career that Ewing was Wyoming's top finisher, and the first since the Mountain West Championships in 2017 when he finished 26^th overall.
 
Senior Christopher Henry placed 107^th overall with a time of 14:38.3, while fellow senior Daniel Hintz placed 120^th with a time of 24:44.2. Senior Paul Roberts crossed the line in 24:49.4 to finish 129^th, while redshirt freshman Albert Steiner placed 173^rd in 25:06.9 to round out Wyoming's scorers.
 
Additionally, junior Jerald Taylor placed 194^th with a time of 25:23.6, while redshirt freshman Blake Hubert was 220^th with a time of 26:07.9.
 
Overall, Iowa State's Edwin Kurgat won the individual title with a time of 23:29.4, while three-time defending national champion Northern Arizona placed first as a team with 59 points.
 
The Cowboys are back in action Friday, Nov. 1, at the Mountain West Championships in Logan, Utah.
