LARAMIE, Wyo. (January 31, 2019) – The Wyoming track & field teams will join over 20 other schools at the Colorado Invitational in Boulder, Colo., this weekend. On Friday, Feb. 1, five of the six field events (all except the shot put) as well as the seeded mile will take place, with action starting at 9 a.m. On Saturday, Feb. 2, the shot put and the rest of the track events will be contested, and the day will begin at 11 a.m.

"It's going to be a really good opportunity," "We're about midway through our indoor season, and we've talked about getting better each and every week. I think the University of Colorado and the teams that are going to be there will provide the competition we need. Also, it's a brand new facility, and it's going to be an opportunity for all our athletes to put up some good performances."

The Pokes are coming off a solid performance at the Powder River Dual that was held last weekend in Gillette, Wyo. Both teams saw many personal bests and positive improvements from marks set earlier in the season.

In the national rankings, a trio of Cowboy throwers are in the top 70 of the weight throw. Hap Frketich is 38th with a season-best mark of 64 feet, 5.75 inches, while Kirk Unland is 44th with a throw of 63, 8.75. Eric McArthur has a toss of 61-10.5 to rank 68th in the NCAA. William Nolan is ranked in both horizontal jumps, coming in 46th in the long jump with a leap of 24-3.75 and 53rd in the triple jump with a mark of 49-8.5.

For the Cowgirls, Jerayah Davis' converted time of 7.31 in the 60 meter dash is 19th in the country, while her season-best 200m time of 23.94 is 47th. Ja'la Henderson is 10th in the long jump with a leap of 20-7, and she comes in 18th in the triple jump, going 42-4 at the meet in Fargo two weeks ago. Aumni Ashby is 55th in the triple jump with a mark of 40-10.25, while Davis is also ranked in the long jump, as her mark of 19-9 is 49th.
