LARAMIE, Wyo. (Sept. 26, 2018) – The Cowgirl soccer team will continue its Mountain West road swing on Friday, against the Utah State Aggies followed by an afternoon match on Sunday against the Boise State Broncos. Friday's match is set for 4 p.m. MT while a 1 p.m. time is scheduled for Sunday.
Wyoming enters the week with a 6-2-2 record and 1-1 in the MW. They split the opening weekend with a tough 2-1 loss against San Diego State followed up by a 3-2 win over New Mexico on Sunday.

Annika Clayton recorded her team-leading third goal on Friday, followed by senior

Sekoya Romero with two goals each. Clayton has a team high 25 shots, which ranks eighth in the MW. In conference games, Stark is tied for third with eight (4.00 spg). Taube is tied for second in points and goals.
The Cowgirl offense ranks third in shots with 13.90 per game and fourth in goals and goals per game. UW takes fewer shots than UNLV and Boise State who average 16.18 and 14.60 shots per game, respectively. They have a 46.0 shots on goal percentage and have taken 37 corner kicks compared to 26 by their opponents.
Junior
Cristina Salazar has played all ten games in net, has 30 saves and a 1.14 goals against average, which is eighth in the MW. She is also third in the league with three shutouts. Freshman
Hannah Lee has played in five games and has 13 saves and one shutout. Senior defender
Taylor Burton has logged 928 minutes of the 943 played by the Cowgirls including all 90 six times, 93 once and 110 minutes twice.
Utah State is 2-7 overall and also split its opening weekend in MW play. Last time out, they defeated Nevada, 1-0, in Logan. They were picked to finish seventh right above the Cowgirls in the MW Coaches poll.
The Aggies are led by freshman Sara Noel with a team high four goals along with 13 shots. Sophomore Ashley Cardozo has two goals and taken a team-leading 25 shots. Senior Grace McGuire has played seven of nine games in goal and has a 1.80 goals against averaged. USU returns six starters and 12 letterwinners to a team that went 9-7-3 overall and 4-5-2 to finish eighth in the league a season ago.
This will be the 14th meeting between the two schools. Utah State leads the series 7-4-2 and has won the last three in a row. The last time the two teams met was Oct. 13, 2017. The Aggies took a 3-1 victory in Laramie. The Cowgirls are 1-4-2 in road contests against Utah State. The last win for UW came on Oct. 25, 2015 with a 2-1 victory in Laramie.
Boise State comes in to the contest with a league leading 8-2 overall record and 2-0 in the MW, while riding a four-match winning streak. Last time out, they defeated UNLV 3-0 in Las Vegas. The Broncos were picked third in the MW Coaches poll and received two first place votes.
Current reigning MW offensive player of the week sophomore Raimee Sherle leads the team and the league in goals (12), points (24) and shots (51). Her teammate junior McKenna Kynett is right behind her in each of those categories. Senior goalkeeper Tara Fisher has 34 saves and a 1.02 goals against average. As a team, BSU is averaging 14.6 shots and 2.00 goals scored per game.
This will be the 13th game between the two schools. UW leads the series 7-4-1. The last time the two squads met was October 15, 2017 with BSU coming out on top 3-1 in Laramie. The Cowgirls are 1-2-1 in Boise.
