FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Sept. 18, 2018) – The Wyoming women's golf team wrapped up the second round of play at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in 11
th on the team scoreboard Tuesday at the par-72 6,466-yard Ptarmigan Country Club.
The Cowgirls shot an 18-over 306 Tuesday to follow up their opening round 301 and head into Wednesday's final round at 31-over.
Erin Sargent and
Megan Knadler lead the Cowgirls, tied for 26
th at 6-over for the event.
"Today we really pressed to score and had a tough time getting any significant putts to drop," head coach
Josey Stender said. "Erin and Megan played consistent and confident all day even with a few missed chances."
After 36 holes, Boise State leads the field at 3-over, followed by Nevada (+14), Nebraska (+19), Idaho (+20) and a tie between San Francisco and UC Irvine (+21) to round out the top five. Boise State's Tara Finigan is the clubhouse leader for the second-straight day at 11-under.
Sargent and Knadler both carded 2-over scores of 74 to lead the Cowgirls on Tuesday.
Sargent followed up her first-round 76 with four birdies—including three on the front nine to get to the turn at 1-under— in her second to earn her 74. Knadler was able to keep it consistent throughout her round, limiting herself to a team-low three bogeys to finish the day at 2-over for the round and six-over for the tournament.
Kaylee Knadler followed her first-round 73 with a 79 in the second to sit at 8-over for the tournament in a tie for 32
nd. Sophomore
Caitlyn Skavdahl also turned in a 79 for her second round to tie for 47
th at 11-over heading into Wednesday's third round.
Freshman
Samantha Hui finished with a 79 for her second round to finish the day at 19-over in 71
st.
Senior
Sarah Hankins leads the Cowgirls competing as individuals at 14-over in 58
th after a 6-over 78 on Tuesday. Freshman
Michelle Nguyen also shot a 78 for her second round to sit in 70
th at 18-over. Freshman
Cristiana Ciasca shot an 82 on Tuesday and will head into Wednesday's action at 21-over in 74
th.
Paired with Long Beach State and Portland State and looking to finish the event strong, the Cowgirls will tee off for the final round of play at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic on Wednesday at 9:20 a.m. MT from the 10
th hole.
