Berryhill Announces Addition of 10 Signees to Wyoming Track & Field Program

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The University of Wyoming track & field program has added 10 student-athletes to its 2018-19 roster, head coach Bryan Berryhill announced Monday. The group is composed of five Cowboys and five Cowgirls, while it includes four Wyoming natives. The four distance runners in the class will also join the UW cross country roster, while the group also includes three throwers, two jumpers and one hurdler.

Below is a look at each of the new student-athletes who will don the Brown and Gold in 2018-19, organized alphabetically.

Aumni Ashby | Jumps/Sprints | Denver, Colo. | Cherry Creek HS
  • 2016 Colorado 5A state runner-up in triple jump
  • 19th in triple jump at 2017 New Balance indoor nationals
  • Centennial League triple jump champion

Wyoming associate head coach Quincy Howe: "Aumni has had a stellar career in gymnastics and she is an emerging talent in the jumping events. She will be a part of the 1-2 tandem of freshman triple jumpers coming in to add depth to the event along with standout Cowgirl Ja'la Henderson."

Wyoming assistant coach Carrie Lane: "Mary is another outstanding all-around athlete with some state track & field titles under her belt already. With her talent in both shot put and discus, she will complement our young women's squad and provide some great depth in several throwing events."

In addition to a successful athletic career at Laramie High School, he's a very good student and has great character. The diligence he's shown in high school sets him up well for the collegiate system athletically and academically, and I look forward to working with him."

  • 2017 South Dakota Class A champion in 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump and triple jump
  • 2016 South Dakota Class A champion in 200 meters, 400 meters and triple jump
  • Featured in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd section in September 2017
  • Mother Shanna was a 2017 inductee to the Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the 1991 national champion rodeo team

  • 2018 Wyoming indoor track & field state champion in 55-meter hurdles (undefeated in the event throughout the season)
  • 2018 Simplot Games runner-up in 60-meter hurdles
  • Winner in six of seven hurdles competitions so far during 2018 outdoor season
  • Fourth-place finisher in 300-meter hurdles at 2017 Wyoming 4A outdoor state championships
  • Third-place finisher in 55-meter hurdles at 2017 Wyoming state indoor championships
  • Third-place finisher in 110-meter hurdles at 2016 Wyoming 4A outdoor state championships
