The Cowgirls enter the contest 15-7 overall with an 8-3 conference record after a 64-46 victory against Utah State on Wednesday night. Senior
Natalie Baker finished with a career-high 21 points plus eight rebounds. She was 8-of-14 (.571) from the field and 4-of-6 (.667) from beyond the arc. Fellow senior
Liv Roberts followed with 12 points, while junior
Marta Gomez and senior
Marleah Campbell had 11 and 10, respectively. Junior
Clara Tapia dished out a season-high nine assists. The Cowgirls were 24-of-48 (.500) from the field, including 14-of-22 (.636) in the last two quarters, and a season-high 10-of-15 (.667) from three. UW out rebounded Utah State 30-23, 18 assists and ten steals.
Roberts is averaging a team-high 13.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest, which ranks 10
th and 14
th in overall games, respectively in the MW. She is followed by Rusk who is adding 8.8 points and 2.9 assists, while Cotton is chipping in 8.5 points and 5.8 boards per game. UW is shooting 456-of-1125 (.405) from the field and 249-of-321 (.776) from the free throw line. The Cowgirls are also outscoring its opponents 59.8-55.0 and out rebounding teams 33.8-32.0.
The Lady Rebels enter the contest with 14-8 mark overall and 9-2 in league action. They are led by junior Katie Powell who is averaging a team-high 16.3 points and 9.1 boards. Senior Brooke Johnson follows with 16.1 points and 3.0 boards. As a team, UNLV is averaging 68.0 points and 42.1 rebounds per contest. They return four starters and ten letterwinners to a team that went 22-11overall and 12-6 in the MW for a third place finish.
This will be the 46th meeting between the two schools. The Lady Rebels lead the series 23-22. The last time the two teams met was January 25, 2017 with UNLV coming away with a 51-46 victory. The Lady Rebels are coached by Kathy Olivier who is in her tenth season with the program.
