Cowboys and Miners Continue Rivalry on Saturday Evening

First Meeting Since 2007

EL PASO, Texas (Dec. 21, 2018) – The Wyoming Cowboys and the UTEP Miners continue their rivalry on Saturday evening in the consolation game of the Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational. The two teams will meet for the first time since 2007 at 5 p.m. inside the Don Haskins Center.

It will mark the first meeting in 11 years to the day. Wyoming and UTEP met in the Sun Bowl Invitational title game on Dec. 22, 2007 with the Miners taking the contest by a score of 79-73. UTEP leads the all-time series over the Pokes 42-23.

The Cowboys fell to ETSU on Friday by a tally of 76-53, as Hunter Thompson scored a career-high 25 points. The Miners fell to Norfolk State by a score of 75-62.  Evan Gilyard led the Miners with 20 points.
