Wyoming Welcomes Front Range Foe Northern Colorado

Two of nation’s top scorers faceoff

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 29, 2018) – The Cowboys return to the friendly confines of the Arena-Auditorium for the first time in 15 days hosting Front Range foe Northern Colorado for a 4 p.m. start on Saturday in the Arena-Auditorium. The contest features two of the top scorers in the nation in Wyoming's Justin James and UNC's Jordan Davis.

Tickets are available to Saturday's game by: going online at GoWyo.com/tickets, emailing tickets@uwyo.edu,  calling 307-766-7220 or stopping by the UW Athletics Ticket Office on the west side of the Arena-Auditorium. 
 
The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network with Kyle Huson on the call and Liv Roberts on Color. Fans can watch, listen to the game and follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Dave Walsh and Kevin McKinney will call the action.
 
A Look at the Matchup
Wyoming heads into Saturday's contest with a 2-5 overall record after falling at Evansville by a score of 86-78 on Wednesday. The Cowboys rank third in the Mountain West and No. 27 in the nation in free throws made this season with 129. Wyoming was 22-of-27 on Wednesday.
 
Wyoming is shooting 42 percent from the field on the season with opponents connecting at a 46 percent clip. Wyoming is shooting 31 percent from behind the arc. Wyoming is grabbing 27.3 defensive rebounds per game ranking third in the MW.
 
The Bears head to Laramie with a 4-1 overall record after defeating Denver on Wednesday on the road 88-72. Northern Colorado ranks ninth in the nation in scoring averaging 90.8 points per game. They rank 10th in the nation in rebound margin grabbing 12 more rebounds per game than their opponents.
 
Northern Colorado ranks third in the nation in three pointers made per game at 13.0. The Bears have connected on 65 three this season, a number that leads the Big Sky Conference.
 
Each Team's Leaders
James leads the Cowboys in scoring, assists and rebounds this season. He leads the MW in scoring at 24.9 points per game, ranks second in the MW in rebounds at 10 per night and sixth in assists at 4.0. James 24.9 points per game is tenth in the country.  James Leads the nation in both free throws made and attempted. He is 62-of-79 from the charity stripe this season for 79 percent. He recorded a career-high 34 points and career-best 20 rebounds at Evansville.
 
Sophomore Hunter Maldonado is second on the Cowboys in scoring at 14.2 points per game. He missed Wednesday's contest with an injury. Redshirt freshman Hunter Thompson returned to the lineup at Evansville, as he scored a career-high 15 points. Junior Jake Hendricks adds 12.3 points per game and leads Wyoming with 20 three pointers.
 
Davis ranks No. 17 in the nation in scoring at 24 points per game. He also adds 5.4 assists per game to rank second in the Big Sky and No. 51 in the nation. He has scored over 1,600 points in his career.
 
Trent Harris adds 13.8 points per game, as he leads the team with 21 three pointers. He is shooting 57 percent from behind the arc to rank No. 12 in the nation. Jonah Radabaugh adds a team-best 5.2 rebounds along with Cole Bergan. Radabaugh adds 12.8 points per game and is 16-of-19 from the free throw line.
 
About the Series
Saturday's contest is the 75th meeting between the two schools in a series that dates back to 1909. Wyoming holds the series lead 54-20 and is 33-8 in Laramie. UNC took last season's meeting by a score of 91-84 in Laramie.
