The Cowgirls enter the contest 14-5 overall and sit in first place in Mountain West action with a 7-1 conference record. Wyoming extended its winning streak to seven after a 58-46 win over San Jose State on Saturday. Senior
Liv Roberts finished her night with a game-high 20 points, three steals and three rebounds in 31 minutes of action. She needs just eight points to reach 1,000 for her career. Junior
Bailee Cotton followed with 16 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Juniors
Clara Tapia and
Marta Gomez each added six points. The Cowgirls were 21-of-54 (.389) from the field and 12-of-15 (.800) from the free throw line. UW out rebounded the Spartans 39-32 and had 34 points in the paint.
Roberts is averaging a team-high 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest, which ranks 12th and 11th in overall games, respectively in the MW. She is followed by Rusk who is adding 9.2 points and 3.1 assists, while Cotton is chipping in 9.1 points and 5.9 boards per game. UW is shooting 398-of-975 (.408) from the field and 223-of-287 (.777) from the free throw line. The Cowgirls are also outscoring its opponents 60.6-54.7 and out rebounding teams 33.8-32.6.
The Rams enter the contest with a 14-7 mark overall and 6-4 in MW play. Sophomore Grace Colaivalu leads the team in scoring with 10.5 points and 3.4 assists, while senior Hanna Tvrdy follows with 9.6 points and a team-high 6.3 rebounds. As a squad, the Rams are outscoring opponents 61.1-55.0 and shooting 41.3 percent (489-1183) from the field. They return three starters and seven letterwinners to a team that went 25-9 overall, 15-3 in the league and an appearance in the WNIT. This will be the 100th meeting between the two schools. UW leads the series 50-49. The last time the two teams met was January 13, 2018 with the Cowgirls coming away with a 53-49 victory. The Rams are coached by Ryun Williams who is in his sixth season with the program.
