Cowgirl Basketball Welcomes Utah State on Saturday

Game time set for 2 p.m. MT

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 18, 2018) – The Wyoming women's basketball team will return to action after the mid-week bye on Saturday afternoon to host the Utah State Aggies. The game is set for a 2 p.m. MT tip time in the Arena-Auditorium. Live stats, video and audio can be found on the GoWyo.com website.
 
The Cowgirls enter the contest 11-5 overall and tied for first with a 4-1 record in Mountain West play after a 53-49 victory over Colorado State on Saturday afternoon. Junior Bailee Cotton finished her night with a game-high 15 points, team-high eight rebounds and four assists. She was 4-of-5 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Senior Liv Roberts followed with 13 points and five rebounds while juniors Clara Tapia and Marta Gomez added eight and seven points respectively. Wyoming shot 17-of-47 (.362) from the field and 13-of-16 (.813) from the charity stripe. As a team, the Cowgirls out rebounded the Rams 32-28 and had 11 assists on 17 baskets.
 
Roberts is averaging a team-high 12.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest, which ranks 14th and eighth in overall games, respectively in the MW. She is followed by Rusk who is adding 9.1 points and 2.9 assists, while Cotton is chipping in 8.8 points and 5.8 boards per game. UW is shooting 332-of-824 (.403) from the field and 183-of-238 (.769) from the free throw line. The Cowgirls are also outscoring opponents 60.4-55.9 and out rebounding teams 33.8-32.9.
 
The Aggies enter the contest with 4-14 mark overall and 2-5 in league action. They are led by sophomore Olivia West who leads the team with 13.8 points while adding 2.3 rebounds. Junior Rachel Brewster follows with 10.1 points, while sophomore Shannon Dufficy averaged a team-high 8.2 boards. As a team, the Aggies are averaging 60.1 points and 34.8 rebounds per contest. They return all five starters and eight letterwinners to a team that went 17-15 overall and 9-9 in the MW for a sixth place finish.
 
This will be the 27th meeting between the two schools. The Cowgirls lead the series 18-8. The last time the two teams met was February 11, 2017 with the Cowgirls coming away with a 59-40 victory. Utah State is coached by Jerry Finbeiner who is in his sixth season.
