NORMAN, Okla. - Four members
of the Wyoming men's golf program were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America
Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced today.
Senior
Ryan Wallen along with juniors Arron Lickteig, Drew McCullough and Glenn Workman earned spots on the list of 260 Division I men's golfers, a record
number of honorees.
To
be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual
must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years
at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive
rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative
career grade-point average of 3.2.
Wallen
carried a 72.08 stroke-average through the 2016-17 season, the third-best mark
in school history. McCullough's stroke-average of 73.40 was among the top 15
averages in UW history, while Lictkeig and Workman both scored well under the
76.0 criteria as well with averages of 74.83 and 74.66, respectively.
The
individual awards add to a growing list of academic honors the program has
collected this year. Last week, the team received its sixth-straight GCAA
All-Academic award. Seven members of the Wyoming men's golf squad were
named to the 2017 Spring Academic All-Mountain West team. Additionally, four UW
men's golfers received the Mountain West Scholar Athlete award for the 2016-17
academic year.
