Wyoming Divers Complete Day One of NCAA Zones

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Freshman Karla Contreras placed fourth in the 3-meter event to highlight the first day of competition at the NCAA Zone E Championships.

The Cowgirls were first up on the 3-meter in the day's opening event. Contreras posted a 12-dive score of 620.35 to place fourth and punch her ticket to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships next week. Senior Keely Bishop posted a 250.05 to place 33rd in the preliminary round and did not advance to the final.

Freshman Scotia Mullin and redshirt-sophomore Ryan Russi both advanced to the final of the 1-meter event. Mullin placed 17th with a mark of 547.70, just ahead of Russi who finished with 542.45 points to place 18th.

All four divers will be back in action tomorrow. The Cowgirls will compete in the 1-meter, followed by the Cowboys in the 3-meter. Live results can be found at divemeets.com.
