STANFORD, Calif. –

the second round of The Goodwin on Friday at the Stanford Golf Course, carding
a 293 (+13) to move into a tie for sixth in the 24-team field.
Senior Ryan Wallen
led the Cowboys in the second round with a one-under 69, matching senior Drew McCullough's
total from yesterday for Wyoming's lowest round of the tournament. Wallen shot
a three-under 32 on his front nine with four birdies. He was one of nine
individuals to shoot under par today. McCullough put together another strong
round with a 72 (+2). He also holds the lowest scoring average in the field on
par 5 holes with a 3.83 after birdies on two of the course's three par 5 holes
today. Both Wallen and McCullough are currently +1 for the tournament and tied
for ninth as individuals.
Sophomore John Murdock finished with a 74 (+4), while junior Glenn Workman scored a 78 (+8)
for UW's third and fourth scores. Junior Quintin Pope ended the day with a 79
(+9). Murdock and Pope are tied for 89th as individuals.
"We're hanging in
there in a tough tournament," UW head coach Joe Jensen said. "Everyone is
playing hard and their attitudes are solid. Part of it is keeping your head up when
you make mistakes and we've done that so far. This is a fun tournament because
the field is so talented. We'll come out swinging hard tomorrow and see what
happens."
Wyoming shot the
seventh-best round of any team in the field. The Cowboys currently lead No. 44
BYU, No. 28 Pepperdine and No. 19 Colorado.
The final round will
begin at 8:30 a.m. MT tomorrow. Workman will be first off the tee for the Pokes
at 1:26 p.m. MT, with the rest of the team in the next four pairings. Live
stats are available through the link above.
