DALLAS, Texas (Nov. 4, 2017) – The Wyoming tennis team continued its weekend on Saturday at the Red and Blue Challenge in Dallas.
In doubles action, the duo of senior
Magdalena Stencel and sophomore
Ana Tkachenko went 2-0 on the day with a 7-6 win over Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner and a 6-4 victory against Ksenia Laskutova and Martha Matoula. Juniors
Elisa Koonik and
Tessa van Der Ploeg defeated Okalova and Ploner, 6-4, but lost to Laskutova and Matoula, 6-4.
Wyoming had mixed results in singles play. van Der Ploeg beat Gabriela Porubin, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2, followed by sophomore
Milka Genkova with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Alexandra Lazarova. Fatima Bizhukova won a tough three set match, 6-4, 5-7, 7-5, over Stencel, while Koonik fell short, 2-6, 7-5, 7-6, against Marta Bellucco. The final Cowgirl in action Tkachenko fell in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, against Sarvi Saidhujaeva.
The Cowgirls will close out fall play tomorrow morning.
