Cowboys and Bearcats Meet for Cayman Islands Classic Title

First meeting since 1995

The Cowboys will play for the Cayman Islands Championship on Wednesday evening against No. 12 Cincinnati. The contest is set for a 5:30 p.m. MT start and is the first meeting between the schools since 1995.
 
The game will be streamed by FloHoops for purchase. Fans can listen to the game and follow stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network.
 
A Look at the Matchup
The Cowboys were impressive defensively in their win over Louisiana on Tuesday. The Pokes are holding opponents to 38 percent from the field on the season and 25 percent from the three point line.
 
Offensively, the Pokes are shooting 44 percent from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc. Wyoming has been impressive at the free throw line connecting on 82-of-104 attempts for 79 percent.
 
The Bearcats are an effective offense averaging nearly 91 points per game. Cinci is shooting 49 percent from the field and 41 percent from behind the arc. Cincinnati has been impressive on the boards grabbing 48.4 per game and only allowing 29.6 per night.
 
Cincinnati also shares the basketball with 102 assists on the season for 20.4 per game. A pressure defense has seen the Bearcats create 17.4 turnovers by opponents.
 
Each Team's Leaders
Senior forward Hayden Dalton added a season-low two points on Tuesday. He is averaging 18.0 points per game with 7.8 rebounds to lead the Pokes' in both categories. He also leads UW adding 2.8 assists per game. Junior guard Justin James is adding 10.8 points per game with 4.8 rebounds. He is expected to be available for Wyoming on Wednesday.
 
Senior Alan Herndon adds 10.3 points per game with 4.8 rebounds per game. He leads the team averaging 3.0 blocks per game on the season. Senior Louis Adams added 14 points in both of the Cayman Island contests and adds 9.3 points per game on the season. Senior guard Alexander Aka Gorski is averaging 11 points per game in the tournament including a team-high 16 points on Tuesday.
 
Cincinnati is led by Jarron Cumberland, as he adds 13.8 points per game. He is also second on the team adding 5.8 rebounds per night. Gary Clark is adding 13.0 points per night and leads the team grabbing 8.8 rebounds per game.
 
Guard Jacob Evans leads the team with 22 assists on the year, He adds 12.0 points per game. Kyle Washington adds 10.2 points per night and 4.6 rebounds.  
 
About the Series
Wednesday's game is the first meeting between the schools since Nov. 29, 1995. The Bearcats hold a 3-2 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 1953.
