Senior forward Hayden Dalton opened the season with 30 points and 13 rebounds in the season opener against Chattanooga last Friday. For his effort he was named the Mountain West Player of the Week on Monday the league office announced. It is the second time in his career that he garnered the honor, as he earned the award last season on Dec. 26, 2016.

It was his 13th career double-double, as he recorded 12 last season. He also became the first Cowboy to score 30 points in a season opener since Afam Muojeke scored 31 against Bakersfield on Nov. 14, 2008.

Dalton played all 40 minutes of Friday's contest, the only Cowboy to do so, and also the only Poke with double-figure scoring. Dalton drained 9-of-17 attempts including 5-of-9 from three-point range, and converted on 7-of-8 free throws.

The Cowboys return to action tonight at Oregon State for a 9 p.m. start on the Pac-12 Network.
