2016-17: Dalton was an Honorable Mention All-MW selection for the Cowboys. He finished second on the team in scoring with 12.2 points. He led the Pokes in rebounding grabbing 8.3 per game ranking third in the MW. He also led the Pokes’ dishing out 2.6 assists per game. He hit 52 triples on the season for fourth on the team. Dalton shot 43 percent from the field and 35 percent from behind the three point line. He led the Pokes shooting 83 percent from the free throw line. He grabbed 12 double-doubles on the season and had double-figure rebounds 14 times. He scored a career-high 27 points against Cornell on Dec. 18. He grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds against Fresno State, in a game where he also added 21 points. He scored in double figures in 26 games including 10-straight from Dec. 10 to Jan. 18. He played a career-high 50 minutes against Fresno State on Feb. 8. He made a career-high 10 free throws at Fresno State on Jan. 4. He had 19 points for the Pokes in the final game of the CBI, as he recorded a career-high five three pointers.
2015-16: Hayden Dalton was one of Wyoming's first bigs off the bench in 2015-16, as he played in 28 games and averaged 14.7 minutes per game. He contributed 3.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest, while shooting 44 percent from the field, 30 percent beyond the arc and 79 percent at the free-throw line. His 3.3 rebounds per game were third on the team. Dalton's top showing was five points, eight rebounds, two blocks and an assist at New Mexico on Jan. 16 in his lone start of the season. He also notched a career-high 13 points at San Diego State on Dec. 30 and a career-high nine rebounds against Nevada on Jan. 20. Dalton totaled three double-figure scoring games during the season.
Before Wyoming: Dalton played the 2014-15 season at Central Wyoming College, but is originally from Parker, Colo., where he played at Chaparral High School, the same high school as teammate Josh Adams.
Dalton started all 27 games he played in his freshman season at Central Wyoming. He averaged 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this past season, leading the Rustlers in rebounding. An outstanding shooter for a big man, he shot 48.6 percent (84 of 173) from the field and an impressive 41.7 percent from three, making 25 of 60 three-point attempts. Dalton also converted 80.4 percent (45 of 56) of his free throws. He added 1.4 assists per game, and had 18 blocks and 23 steals. He had 12 double-figure scoring games his freshman season at Central Wyoming, including scoring a season high 18 points on three occasions versus Northwest College, Laramie County Community College and the Utah All-Stars.
Dalton was part of a Central Wyoming team that posted a 19-9 overall record and finished third in the NJCAA Region IX North Division standings with a 9-5 mark.
He was coached in junior college by head coach Pat Rafferty at Central Wyoming. Rafferty is a former assistant coach at the University of Louisville, Northern Arizona University, the University of Idaho and Drake University. Rafferty, a native of Buffalo, Wyo., was named the NJCAA Division I Region IX North Sub-Region Coach of the Year in his second season at Central Wyoming in the 2014-15 season.
Dalton's senior season at Chaparral High in Parker, Colo., he averaged 11.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He also averaged 2.0 blocks and 1.2 steals in 21 games. Dalton was named First Team All-Continental League as a senior.
Personal: He is the son of Mindy and Matt Dalton. Dalton comes from an athletic family, as his sister, Nicole, is on the University of Texas volleyball team. He is one of seven children. He has: two older sisters, Karlie and Nicole; two younger sisters, Julianna and Katie; and two younger brothers, Joseph and Levi. He is majoring in business at Wyoming.
