Final Results

Freshman Megan Knadler claimed the first top-10 finish of her career to lead the University of Wyoming women's golf team in the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate on Sunday morning. Knadler finished tied for eighth, while UW totaled 920 (+56) at the Classic Club and finished tied for seventh in the 14-team field.

The Cowgirls shot a third round score of 303 (+15), which was their second-best round in the five years UW has hosted the tournament. In 2011, the Cowgirls shot a 301 (+13) in the first round. Wyoming's total team score was also the best total at any of the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate tournaments. The previous best came in 2012, when Wyoming shot a 922 (+58).

"We got off to a rough start today," UW head coach Josey Stender said. "I'm very proud of their determination and resilience to fight back to play the second nine only a few over par. It is great to see more consistent output as a team led by career performances from Klara (Castillo) and Megan (Knadler)."

Knadler shot a career-low in the first round and completed the tournament with a final round 76 (+4) to propel her to a total of 224 (+8). Klara Castillo and Gabrielle Gibson each rounded out another solid tournament with a 231 (+15) to finish tied for 25th. It was Castillo's first career top-25 finish as a Cowgirl. Castillo shot the lowest round for the Cowgirls on Sunday with a 71 (-1) as Gibson fired a 75 (+3). Playing as an individual, Kaylee Knadler finished tied for 56th with a score of 239 (+23). She hit an 81 (+9) in the final round, as Kathleen Kershisnik scored an 86 (+14) to complete the tournament tied for 59th with 240 (+24). Taylor Dorans finished four shots back of Kershisnik with a final of 244 (+28). Dorans fired an 81 (+9) on Sunday.

Emily Woodard carded a final round score of 82 (+10) to finish with a total of 254 (+38). Amanda Hinchey was one shot behind Woodard with a 255 (+39) and hit an 87 (+15) on during the final round. Mackenzie Barrie finished with her best round of the tournament with an 83 (+11) and a total of 257 (+41).

"I would like to thank the Classic Club staff for hosting another fantastic event for us. The course was in spectacular condition and I can't thank them enough for the help with high temperatures impacting players and coaches."

UC Riverside and San Jose State tied for the best team score with an 894 (+30), but UC Riverside took home the team title with the lowest final round. CSU Fullerton's Martina Edberg won the individual title with a total of 211 (-5).

The Cowgirls will return to the course on Oct. 9 to compete in the Denver Ron Moore Intercollegiate.
