Wyoming Tennis Has Tough Saturday at Blue and Red Challenge

DALLAS, Texas -

The Wyoming tennis team continued play on Saturday play at the Blue and Red Challenge in Dallas. The Cowgirls were paired up against the Wichita State Shockers.

In doubles action, all four of the teams in play had a tough outing. Seniors Christa Gecheva and Jessica Parizher lost to Lucia Kovalova and Rebecca Pedrazzi, 8-3. Julia Schiller and Gabriela Porubin defeated Dorottya Jonas and Magdalena Stencel, 8-5, while Cecilia Mercier and Nastya Tokareva dropped their match against Abby Stevens and Giulia Guidetti, 8-3. In the final doubles match of the day, Parizher and Mercier were defeated by Kovalova and Luca Pump, 6-1, 6-4.

It continued to be a struggle on the singles side as well with the Shockers winning all four of the matches played. Porubin defeated Stencel in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, followed by Stevens beating Tokareva, 7-6, 6-4. Jonas won her opening set, 6-4, against Guidetti, but lost 7-6, 6-3. Gecheva closed out the day with a 6-3, 6-3 loss against Aleksandra Trifunovic.

Wyoming will close out the fall season on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. MT in Dallas.
