He was third at the Utah Valley Open and fourth at the Rocky Mountain Open at 174 pounds. He had three falls, including pinning conference foe Graham Sam of Utah Valley at the 4:19 mark. Poulos was recognized by the Wyoming coaching staff for keeping a GPA above 3.50 for the season. 2010-11: Poulos went 5-7 during the 2010-11 season at 174 and 184 pounds, while wrestling in four open tournaments. He wrestled at 174 in the Northwest Open and Cowboy Open, before bumping up to 184 for the Utah Valley Open and Rocky Mountain Open. He went 5-4 in his final two competitions with two falls. In the classroom, he was named to the WWC Coaches' Honor Roll. 2009-10: Expected to wrestle at 184 pounds for UW during his redshirt freshman year, Poulos was slowed by a foot injury which kept him off the competition mat for the entire season. Solid in the classroom, he was named to the Western Wrestling Conference Coaches' Honor Roll. 2008-09: Poulos redshirted, giving him the benefit of a year of training. He competed unattached at multiple tournaments and had a record of 15-17. Of those 15 wins, six were by way of fall. High School: Poulos is a four-time letterwinner in wrestling and won the Wyoming state and conference championships his senior year at 189 pounds. He also won the conference championship his junior season and tallied 107 wins in his four-year career at Laramie High School. Poulos was a three-time letterwinner in football, including being named to the all-state and all-conference first teams his senior season. He also excelled in the classroom by carrying a 4.0 GPA and graduated first in his class. He received the Presidential Scholarship to UW and he was a member of the National Honor Society. Personal: Poulos was born on May 1, 1990, in Laramie, Wyo., and he is the son of John and Tempic Poulos. He has one sibling, Garrett. His field of study at UW is kinesiology and health promotion.
