2012-13: Eitzen saw action in three open tournaments and two duals in his junior season. He was the starter at 133 in a dual versus Boise State, the season opener for UW. He also wrestled in the Cowboy, Northwest and Nebraska-Kearney Opens. He ended his season Jan. 6 as the starter at 133 versus San Francisco State. He went 6-8 for the season with one pin and one major decision. He received the Academic Hustle award from the UW coaching staff at the team banquet.
2011-12: Competing in five tournaments, Eitzen placed four times during the season. His best finish was second at the Nebraska-Kearney Loper Open, where he was second at 133 pounds. He earned a record of 12-8 for the season, and tied for third on the team with two technical falls. He also had three pins and was 2-0 versus Western Wrestling Conference opponents.
2010-11: Eitzen started the year on the shelf with a knee injury, but did return to wrestle in two matches at the Virginia Duals in early January. He lost matches to Lehigh's Frank Cagnina and Buffalo's Kevin Smith at 133 pounds. In the classroom, he was named to the WWC Coaches' Honor Roll.
2009-10: Eitzen used his redshirt season and got better as the year progressed. He competed unattached and had a record of 14-7, with four falls. Jake placed second at the UNK Loper Open as well as the Utah Valley Open, and third at the UNC Open.
High School: Eitzen was a Colorado state champion from Estes Park High School. Including his state title as a junior, he placed all four times at the state tournament, runner-up as a freshman, third as a senior and sixth as a sophomore. His record as a senior was 44-2 and he ended high school with a Colorado state record for most career wins, 162. Eitzen was the 2008 Colorado state freestyle and Greco-Roman champion. A dedicated student, he was named Academic All-State as a junior and senior, as well as an NHSGA Academic All-American. Eitzen was also a three-year letterwinner on the Estes Park H.S. football team. He chose to attend UW over several other colleges, including Oregon State.
Personal: Eitzen was born in Overland Park, Kan., and he is the son of Mike and Kris Eitzen. He has one younger brother, Zach. His father played baseball and rugby at UW in the 1980s. Eitzen is a marketing major at UW.
