2016-17: Colgan brought home a fifth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships before he was awarded an At-Large Bid to the NCAA Championships. He was one of five pokes to participate at the National tournament. Colgan began the year going 9-0 as he won the Cowboy and UNC Open. He went on to take third-place at the Cliff Keen Invite before taking first at the Reno Tournament of Champions. After an opening round loss at NCAAs, Colgan defeated Jake Danishek of Indiana, Victor Lopez of Bucknell and Taleb Rahmani of Pitt to make it to the Blood Round against Stanford’s Paul Fox. We would drop the decision to Fox and just one win short of All-American status. Colgan posted a 36-10 overall mark, going 10-5 in duals and 8-4 against the Big 12 during his junior season.
2015-16: Colgan had another impressive season for the Pokes. He finished the season with a 20-10 record with a 9-3 dual record. He was 13-4 against Big 12 opponents during his sophomore campaign. Colgan came away victorious with a decision against #12 Dylan Cottrell of West Virginia in the Southern Scuffle. He opened the Big 12 Championship with a major against Logan Breitenbach of Iowa State and also won the fifth-place match with a first period pin against Breitenbach to close out the championships.
2014-15: Colgan had a strong redshirt freshman season with the Cowboys on his way to earning Second Team All-WWC honors. He finished the season with a 22-12 overall record going 8-6 in duals. He picked up three pins on the season to go along with three technical falls and two major decisions. He won the Northwest Open to open the season and finished second at the Cowboy Open falling to the nation's second ranked wrestler James Green of Nebraska. He faced the nation's second ranked and top ranked wrestlers in back-to-back matches.
2013-14: An aggressive, attacking style served Colgan well in his redshirt season. In seven open tournaments, he finished third or better, including first in the Viking-Warrior Open and the U.S. Western National Open to cap off his season at 157 pounds. He was 26-5 overall (fifth on UW) and led the squad with seven technical falls. He finished his season winning 10 of 11 bouts, and had three falls and four major decisions for the year. Other notable finishes included second at the Cowboy Open and runner-up honors at the UNC Old Chicago Open. Capping off his season at the ASICS Junior National Championships in April, Colgan went 2-2 in the 70-kilogram (154.25 pounds) class.
High School: Colgan finished his high school career off with a Colorado state title after placing third as a sophomore and junior. He concluded his senior season at Pomona High with a 39-4 record and the state 160-pound crown. He finished third at state as a junior at 152 pounds, and was third as a sophomore at 140 pounds. Colgan was the 2012 Junior National folkstyle runner-up at 152 pounds and won the Colorado State freestyle crown at 152 pounds in 2011. He placed fifth at the 2013 NHSCA Senior Nationals to become an All-American.
Personal: Born in Denver, Colo., he is the son of Ed and Josie Colgan. He has two siblings, Jasmine and Eamonn. He has not decided on a major at UW.
