Taylor Burton enters her fifth season with the Cowgirls’ soccer program, the third as an assistant coach after a two-year stint as the assistant director of player development. Wyoming owns a 26-30-21 record with her on staff.
Burton’s years have included many program highlights. In 2024, the Cowgirls defeated a ranked team for the first time in school history, blanking No. 11 Utah State, 2-0, in Laramie. In 2022, Wyoming won just its second regular-season Mountain West Conference title and played in the conference tournament championship game. In 2021, the Cowgirls won the most games, eight, under a first-year head coach, Colleen Corbin, in program history.
Burton arrived in Laramie from the University of Evansville. She was a graduate assistant coach for one season and attained a master’s degree in leadership.
Prior to her time at Evansville, Burton was a four-year starter at Wyoming. In her Cowgirl career, she helped lead the team to its first-ever Mountain West Conference regular-season title in 2018. That season saw Wyoming match a program-best 12 victories. As a senior, Burton was named MWC Defensive Player of the Year along with garnering first-team All-MWC honors. She was also named a third-team Scholar All-American by the United Soccer Coaches Association. Burton played nearly 6,500 minutes in her collegiate career and ranks in the top 11 in school history in games played, games started and game-winning goals.
Burton graduated from Wyoming in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and teaching.
