2009-10... Maya will aim to build on a successful year of competition. Her best finish was 23rd in the Wyoming Invitational with a time of 16:34. She added a 56th-place finish in the MWC Championships with a time of 24:31, but did not compete at NCAA Regionals. For her efforts, she earned a letter.

2008-09... Maya joined the UW track and field team halfway through the indoor season where she competed in the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs. While in outdoor, she ran in the 1,500- and 10,000-meter run. Academically, Maya was awarded with an Academic All-Conference selection for her hard work in the classroom.

High School... At Cheyenne Central High School, Maya lettered in cross country her senior year, and was a three-time letterwinner in both indoor and outdoor track. During the indoor season, she placed 16th in the state in the 800-meter run in 2007. While running during the outdoor season, she was a part of the 4x800-meter relay team that placed second at the regional meet in `05 and '07. Academically, she was on the honor roll and the National Honor Society in 2007, along with being on the Student Senate for two years.

Personal... Maya was born Feb. 8th, in Cheyenne, Wyo. She is the daughter of Sylvia and William Martinez. She intends on becoming a social worker when she is done with school because she loves working with people and helping others.
