Richmond begins his third season as an assistant diving coach at the University of Wyoming.
Previously, he spent three seasons with the Colorado State swimming & diving program, the last year of which he was the interim head coach. During his time in Fort Collins, several student-athletes achieved new personal records, while one qualified for the NCAA Zone E Championship. He also had an earlier stint with the program from 2002-04.
“I greatly look forward to bring my skill set to UW and continue developing Wyoming diving into the emerging collegiate powerhouse it is on track to become, not just in the Mountain West and WAC, but on the national stage," Richmond said.
Richmond was the head diving coach at Northern Colorado from 2009-10. He coached the team's first-ever NCAA diving zone qualifiers and his athletes set five of the top-10 marks in both the 1- and 3-meter dives, including a school record in the 3-meter.
In 2002, Richmond founded and served as Program Director and Head Coach of USA Diving club, NORCO Diving in Fort Collins, CO and continues to coach the club today and under his tenure, multiple divers moved on to compete in college.
Richmond was selected by USA Diving to participate in the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee Coach Accelerator Program. He's also being mentored by Dr. Jeff Huber -- a 35-year collegiate coach who held positions in the Big Ten, with the U.S. Olympic team, World Championships and Pan American &World University games -- in competitive performance, technical and mental training development.
Richmond was a standout diver at UNLV from 1997-02. He was a three-time Mountain West finalist in all three events, while reaching the NCAA Zone Meet qualifier twice. He also set the school's record in the platform (309.60) -- a mark that stood for 15 years.
A native of Ft. Collins, Colo., he has two children, Tanner and Natalie. He graduated from Colorado State in 2004 with his bachelor’s in speech communication with a coaching minor.
