Scott Knerr began working with University of Wyoming Sports Medicine as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in July of 2008. He was promoted as an Associate Athletic Trainer in July of 2013 then to Associate Director of Sports Medicine in July 2015. Scott provides athletic training services to the Cowboy Wrestling and UW Rodeo programs after working the previous seven years with the Cowgirl Volleyball program. Scott came to Wyoming after serving as an assistant athletic trainer from 2000-08 at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). While there he oversaw the primary coverage of women's and men's volleyball along with supervisory coverage of men's and women's golf.
Scott has also functioned in the clinical setting, having worked at Registered Physical Therapists, Inc. in Salt Lake City from 1997-2000. He earned his Master's degree at the University of Utah in Sports Management and served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer (1995-97). His primary responsibilities included coverage of football, women's soccer and the nationally ranked women's gymnastics team. He received his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. in 1995.
Scott is a Certified Athletic Trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. He and his wife, Jen, have three children, Parker, Claire and Liam. In his spare time he enjoys outdoor activities as well as helping with his kids 4H projects.
