Biography

2022-23 (Senior):  Kirby Coe-Kirkham will enter the 2023 spring season with 14 career Top 25 tournament finishes, tied for the team lead with fellow senior Tyler Severin.  Coe-Kirkham saved his best performance of the 2022 fall season for last.  He was Wyoming’s top finisher at one of the elite collegiate tournaments in the nation, placing 27th out of 123 competitors at the Ka’anapali Classic in Maui, Hawai’i to conclude the fall season.
 
2021-22 (Junior):  Coe-Kirkham posted three Top 25 finishes during the 2021-22 season, which were the second most of anyone on the Cowboy team, with his highest finish being a 13th-place finish at the University of Denver Paintbrush Invitational.  Coe-Kirkham also placed 23rd at the Arizona N.I.T. and 25th at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.  His 73.83 stroke average was third lowest for the Cowboys.  He was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for the third time in his career.  Coe-Kirkham earned both Academic All-Mountain West and MW Scholar-Athlete honors for the fourth time in his career.    
 
2020-21 (COVID Sophomore):  When collegiate golf was resumed in the spring of 2021 following the COVID-shortened season of 2019-20, Coe-Kirkham played in all eight of Wyoming’s tournaments.  He posted two Top 25 finishes, the second most of any Cowboy during the season, including a 12th-place finish at the BYU Cougar Classic and 23rd at the Mountain West Conference Championships.  In May of 2021, Coe-Kirkham won a playoff at the U.S. Open qualifier at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve in Westminster, Colo., and advanced to the U.S. Open Final Qualifying Round at the Dallas Athletic Club in Mesquite, Texas.  In August of 2021, he was one of only 312 amateur golfers to qualify for and play in the 121st U.S. Amateur at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., and Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pa.  Coe-Kirkham won the U.S. Amateur Qualifier held at Jacoby Golf Course in Laramie, Wyo., on July 6 to qualify for the U.S. Amateur.  For the second time in his college career, he was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).  For the third time in his career, he earned both Academic All-Mountain West and Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors.
 
2019-20 (Sophomore):  Coe-Kirkham had an outstanding 2019-20 season prior to the season being shortened due to COVID-19.  The sophomore set a new Wyoming school single-season record for lowest scoring average at 71.50.  He placed in the Top 20 in five of Wyoming’s eight tournaments, and placed in the Top 10 in three of those eight tournaments.  Coe-Kirkham placed 10th at the prestigious Ka’anapali Classic in Maui, Hawai’i in November in a field that included eight of the Top 50 ranked teams in the nation.  The other individuals placing in the Top 10 were all from Top 50 ranked teams.  Coe-Kirkham also posted finishes of 6th place at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, 7th place at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, 16th place at the Ram Masters Invitational and 20th place at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.  In the months of October and November, Coe-Kirkham shot a combined 17-under par in the three tournaments he played.  Coe-Kirkham also was one of only 13 college players who participated in the 2020 Genesis Invitational Collegiate Showcase at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles in February of 2020.  In the summer of 2019, he was part of the state of Wyoming’s three-man team that competed at the Pacific Coast Amateur played in Albuquerque, N.M.  Academically, Coe-Kirkham was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).  He was selected an Academic All-Mountain West honoree and earned MW Scholar-Athlete honors for the second consecutive year.  Coe-Kirkham also was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Team.
 
2018-19 (Freshman): Coe-Kirkham competed in all 13 tournaments for the Wyoming Cowboys in his true freshman season.  He posted four Top 25 finishes as a freshman.  Coe-Kirkham placed 23rd at the University of Denver Paintbrush Invitational, finished 14th at the University of Colorado Mark Simpson Invite, placed 13th at the University of New Mexico William H. Tucker Invitational and finished 14th at the Mountain West Conference Championship.  Coe-Kirkham finished the season with a stroke average of 73.77, which was third best for the Cowboys behind only senior John Murdock and junior Dan Starzinski, who had identical stroke averages of 71.77.  Coe-Kirkham’s low individual round was a 68 (-4) in the second round of the 2019 Mountain West Conference Championship.  His lowest three-round tournament total was a 210 (-6) also at the Mountain West Championship.  Coe-Kirkham finished as the second alternate (third place) at the U.S. Amateur Qualifier hosted at Wyoming’s Jacoby Golf Course in July 2019.  He earned Academic All-Mountain West and Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors.
 
High School:  Coe-Kirkham was a three-time First Team All-State selection, with runner-up finishes at the Wyoming 4A State Championships each of his last three seasons.  During his junior season, he won seven of 10 high school tournaments and finished as the 4A East Conference champion in the spring.  Coe-Kirkham won Part One of the Junior America’s Cup Qualifier in June 2018, missing qualifying for the IMG Junior World Championships by only two strokes.  He was very involved in extracurricular activities outside of golf, having served as the National Junior Honor Society president and sophomore class student council president at Sheridan High.  He made the Principal’s Honor Roll while taking a variety of Advanced Placement classes.  Coe-Kirkham played for coach Larry Martoglio at Sheridan High School.
 
Personal:  He is the son of Tracy Coe and Mark Kirkham.  Coe-Kirkham is majoring in energy systems engineering.
