Biography

UW This Season: Devin McKenna will join returning starter Lucas Wacha and back-up Eric Nzeocha at the middle linebacker position in 2016, giving the Cowboys a trio of three seniors at the MIKE linebacker spot. 

2015: Appeared in four games before suffering a season-ending injury. Recorded six tackles with one solo stop and five assisted tackles. McKenna recorded a career-high three tackles against Eastern Michigan. In the season opener against North Dakota, he recorded two tackles and added a half tackle for loss.

2014: Redshirted. 

2013: Was a member of the Cowboy football team, but did not appear in any contests. Prior to UW: Played one season at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. 

High School: McKenna was a First Team All-State selection, along with being named to the All-South New Jersey team, All-Area, All-Conference and a team captain as a senior at Notre Dame High School in New Jersey. His Notre Dame High teams won the conference championship three of four years during his playing career.  As a junior, he led the state in tackles with 162 stops. He was an honor roll student all four years of school, earned a National Service Award and was a National Honor Society member. 

Personal: Born Feb. 5, 1993, he is the son of Andrew and Diane McKenna. His brother Shane played football at the University of Delaware. He was recruited by Rutgers, Temple, Navy and Monmouth. He is pursuing a master’s in accounting at UW.
