College of Knowledge
Program Objective
The University of Wyoming sports performance department is committed to aiding in the development of prospective strength & conditioning coaches. "College of Knowledge" is a program designed to develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a well-rounded, successful strength & conditioning coach. Interns must complete a curriculum involving: exercise progression, exercise demonstration, program writing, resume building, interviewing skills, movement pattern recognition and coaching philosophy. The program offers the opportunity to work directly with division one student-athletes on a daily basis. Learning opportunities are provided by five full time strength & conditioning coaches, including two master strength & conditioning coaches and two registered dieticians. Access to the latest readiness and performance tracking technologies prepares interns for the future of sports performance.
Duties
1. Assist sports performance staff in all daily facility and equipment maintenanceÂ
2. Aid in the implementation of: warm-ups, strength, speed, conditioning and recovery sessionsÂ
3. Complete all assigned continuing educationÂ
4. Specific duties will be assigned based on education and experience levelÂ
Qualifications
Interns must demonstrate:
1. Desire to pursue a career in sports performance
2. Enthusiasm to learn and develop a coaching philosophy
3. Outgoing and professional behaviorÂ
4. Interest in taking the CSCS or CSCCa certification exams
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
6. Ability to receive credit towards a college degree (preferred)
7. Must pass a background checkÂ
