Career Stats Career Statistics Biography Summary Biography UW This Season: After a year off, Oliver Schober hopes to return to the form that made him one of UW's most effective defenders in 2010. A versatile athlete, he is listed as the No. 1 middle linebacker on the depth chart and can use his powerful leg to handle kickoffs if needed. 2011: Schober missed the entire season with an injury. 2010: Schober was a useful reserve linebacker during his first year in the UW program, as he appeared in all 12 games and made three starts against Toledo, San Diego State and New Mexico. He finished with 46 tackles, including 20 solo stops, to go with one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery. His three pass breakups ranked fourth on the team. He also handled kickoff duties for the Cowboys. He kicked 47 times to average 63.0 yards per boot with eight touchbacks. At the team's year-end banquet, he earned UW's Hammer Award, recognizing the player with the most big hits during the season. Schober was also honored with his first Mountain West Academic All-Conference award. Prior to UW: Schober came to Wyoming in the fall of 2010 from Munich, Germany, where he learned to play the American game of football. His connection to the University of Wyoming coaching staff came through David Odenthal, a former college player of Wyoming head coach Dave Christensen. Odenthal played for Christensen at the University of Toledo, and coached in the league in which Schober played. He played his amateur football for the Munich Cowboys and for National Team Germany. Personal: Born March 29, 1987, he is the youngest of two sons of Elsa and Hans-Joerg Schober. Elsa is a native of Jamaica. His older brother, Daniel, played for the Cologne Centurions in NFL Europe. He is majoring in business administration at UW.
