2012: With 31 catches for 657 yards, Herron was a deep threat throughout the season. He showed his skills - and rare speed - in the Cowboys' first game of the season. Against a Texas secondary featuring an NFL First-Round pick in Kenny Vaccaro, Herron totaled five catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns. His first score gave Wyoming a 9-7 lead over the 15th-ranked Longhorns in the first quarter. In the season finale versus San Diego State, Herron was stellar as well, with 10 receptions for 187 yards, both career-high marks. It was his second game with 100 or more yards receiving, and he caught a team-leading eight TD passes. Herron had four receptions of 50 yards or more, and boasted a team-best 21.2 yards per catch average. 

2011: As one of the Cowboys' most potent deep threats, Herron was second on the team with 43 receptions for 379 yards and three touchdowns. He started the season with a bang, catching seven passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns versus Weber State. His last grab of that game, a 9-yard TD catch, came with 22 seconds left on the clock to give the Cowboys a 35-32 win. Herron had another big game against then-No. 9 ranked Nebraska, when he caught four passes for 35 yards and one touchdown. Herron proved to be a threat out of the backfield, carrying the ball eight times for 53 yards. 

2010: Herron split time at wide receiver and running back, as he appeared in 10 of 12 games during the season and averaged 23.5 yards of total offense per game. In the backfield, he carried the ball 40 times for 235 yards, but earned more playing time as the season progressed. Herron made at least six carries each of the last five games, including notching a season-high nine carries for 122 yards at New Mexico. He also posted a season-long 68-yard rush against the Lobos. As a receiver, Herron had six catches for 57 yards, including at least one reception in five contests. His longest catch of the season was a 38-yarder at TCU. 

High School: Herron lettered during his junior and senior seasons as a running back and wide receiver under coach Paul Know at Dorsey High School. As a senior, Herron helped guide his team to a 9-4 record and an appearance in the semifinals of the state playoffs. He finished second on the team with 24 catches for 600 yards and six touchdowns, while adding 15 carries for 171 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. His efforts earned him first team all-city and all-league honors. Herron also lettered as a sprinter in track and field his final two years. As a senior, he qualified for the state meet in four events, after helping win city titles in the 4-by-400-meter and 4-by-100-meter relays. He owned personal bests of 20.99 seconds in the 200 meters and 10.50 in the 100 meters. In the classroom, Herron volunteered as a peer mediator. 

Personal: The son of Nicole Brame and Terri Herron, he has two sisters and one brother. He is pursuing a degree in communications at UW.
