UW This Season: In his final spring campaign, Burns secured his spot as the top field cornerback on the depth chart following drills. He will serve as the No. 2 punt returner on special teams.

2013: Burns had a solid season as one of UW's starting cornerbacks, tallying a career-high 61 tackles over 12 games. He led all Cowboys with seven pass breakups and had a late interception against Nebraska that allowed to Pokes to stay within striking distance in the first game of the year. He recovered one fumble and had one tackle for loss.

2012: The highlight of Burns' season was a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown versus Colorado State. In the first quarter, UW held a 14-7 lead but the Rams were threatening from the UW 9 yard line. That was until Burns picked off a CSU pass at the UW 1 and raced the length of the field to give the Pokes a two-score lead in an eventual 45-31 Border War win. The return was second longest in school history and tied for third longest in NCAA that season. For the year, Burns finished fourth on the team in tackles with 60 tackles and led UW with 10 pass breakups. He also added one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Burns also was the team's primary punt returner, tallying 12 returns for 122 yards with a long of 47.

2011: Burns began his true freshman season as a backup cornerback, but earned a starting spot over the final nine games of the year. He was named a First Team Freshman All-American by CBSSports.com and the Football Writers Association of America and Honorable Mention Freshman All-American by CollegeFootballNews.com. He also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors from the Mountain West. Burns led Wyoming in interceptions, with four, and ranked No. 2 in the Mountain West and No. 38 in the nation in interceptions. He had two interceptions versus Bowling Green, one at the goal line against TCU to stop a scoring drive and one at Colorado State to end the game. Burns concluded the regular season with 48 total tackles, 1.5 TFLs, one fumble recovery and four pass breakups. He tied for seventh in the MW in passes defended with eight. His best game came against Bowling Green -- two interceptions, one fumble recovery and six tackles. He had a season-high nine tackles at Utah State. Burns recorded seven tackles and had one pass breakup at San Diego State, and he broke up a season-high three passes versus UNLV. He was honored as the team's Freshman of the Year at the year-end awards banquet.

High School: Burns was an Honorable Mention All-State and First Team All-District 5A selection as a cornerback at Plano High School. His senior year, he was credited with 56 tackles, intercepted six passes, had 16 pass breakups and returned one kickoff for a touchdown. He helped lead Plano to a 7-4 record and the first round of the state playoffs. His name was placed on the Plano Senior High Wall of Honor following his senior season for earning Collin County All-District honors in football. His junior season, Burns made 46 tackles, intercepted two passes and broke up 14 other passes. He earned Second Team All-District his junior season, as his team went 5-8 on the season. His sophomore year, he was part of a 10-2 team that advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. He played for head coach Jaydon McCullough at Plano Senior High.

Personal: Born July 9, 1993, he is the son of Paulette and Arthur Burns and has one younger sister, Brandi. His dad played baseball at Mississippi Valley State. Burns was also recruited by Louisiana Monroe and Texas Tech. He is pursuing a degree in communications at UW.
