Career Stats Career Statistics Biography Summary Biography UW This Season: Tanner Gentry will be one of the top returning wide receivers in the Mountain West and the Nation. He had a very strong spring returning to the field after an injury that cut his junior season short. With another productive season, Gentry could break into Wyoming’s Top-10 in both receiving yards and receptions. 2015: Gentry appeared in seven games for the Cowboys last season before suffering a season-ending injury. He was leading the Mountain West in receiving yards at the time of the injury and was named to the 2015 Biletnikoff Award Watch List for the first time in his career. He finished the season with 37 catches for 678 yards and four touchdowns. Gentry averaged 18.3 yards per catch on the season. He also added five rushes for 48 yards. In his seven games, he recorded 100 or more receiving yards three times. In the season opener against North Dakota, he had nine catches for a career-high 176 yards with one touchdown. In that contest,he recorded a career-high 92 yard reception. That reception was the second longest touchdown reception in school history. He had seven catches for 127 yards and a touchdown at Washington State. Gentry had nine catches for 130 yards with a touchdown against New Mexico. 2014: Gentry appeared in all 12 games for the Cowboys with three starts. He hauled in 32 passes on the season for 435 yards with two touchdowns. He averaged 36.2 receiving yards per game and 13.6 yards per catch. His longest reception of the season was 44 yards at New Mexico. He scored his first career touchdown at Oregon. He also hauled in a touchdown against Colorado State. Against Air Force, he finished the contest with eight receptions for 91 yards. At Colorado State he hauled in six passes for a 96 yards. 2013: As a true freshman, Gentry was No. 3 on the team in catches with 39. He had 376 yards and averaged 31 receiving yards per game. He posted nine grabs for 79 yards versus Air Force and had a long reception of 31 yards. High School: Gentry was one of the top high school football players in the state of Colorado over his last two years. The Denver Post named him to the All-Colorado team for all classifications and First Team All-State Class 5A as a wide receiver his senior season of 2012. Gentry was also named to the Mile High Sports All-Colorado First Team as a senior. As a junior, the Denver Post selected him First Team All-State Class 5A as a defensive back. Gentry was ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 15 recruit in the state of Colorado in 2012, and was ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 23 recruit in the state. He caught 52 passes for 1,019 yards and nine receiving touchdowns, while rushing for 169 yards on 19 carries and scoring six TDs on the ground as a senior. Gentry also intercepted six passes from his defensive back position. He helped lead his Grandview High team to an 8-4 record and the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. His junior season, Gentry caught 50 passes for 693 yards and seven TDs, while intercepting 10 opponent passes. Grandview posted an 11-2 record and advanced to the state semifinals. As a sophomore, he had six receptions for 102 yards and scored two touchdowns, while earning All-Conference honors. His team finished the 2010 season 8-5, losing in the state semifinals. He was elected a team captain as a senior. Gentry played for head football coach John Schultz. Personal: Born Dec. 18, 1994, he is the oldest of three children of Robin and Ryan Gentry. His dad played football at Western State in Colorado. Gentry was also recruited by Air Force, Arizona, Colorado, Colorado State, Utah, Utah State and Washington State. He is pursuing a degree in kinesiology and health promotion at UW.
