2016-17: Aka Gorski (pronounced AAH-ka GORE-ski) appeared in a career-high 33 games with 15 starts for the Pokes. He averaged 21.5 minutes per game averaging 7.7 points per game with 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. He was third on the team with 56 three pointers on the season. He scored in double-figures in 11 games. He scored a career-high 20 points twice on the season with one coming in the season opener against Western State and once against Utah State with both contests coming in the Arena-Auditorium. In the contest against Utah State, Aka Gorski hit a career-high six three pointers. He scored in double-figures in the first five games of the conference schedule. He hit three or more three pointers in eight games. He recorded a career-high six assists on Air Force on Dec. 28. He grabbed a career-best six rebounds against South Dakota State on Nov. 19.
2015-16: Alexander Aka Gorski played in all 31 games for Wyoming during 2015-16, including making 10 starts. He contributed 5.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 18.8 minutes per game, while shooting 38 percent from the floor, 37 percent from deep and 71 percent at the free-throw line. His 5.6 points per game ranked fourth on the team. His top showing was a career-high 15 points, three rebounds and a career-high three triples in a career-high 36 minutes at Denver on Dec. 2. Aka Gorski scored in double figures four total times in 2015-16, including 14 points at Boise State on Feb. 13, 12 points against Houston on Dec. 22 and 11 points against UNLV on Jan. 9. He started back-to-back games just twice during the season.
2014-15: Aka Gorski was slowed by a finger injury to start the 2014-15 season, but rebounded to play in 20 games as a reserve guard. He averaged 2.1 points and 0.7 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game, while shooting 31 percent from the field and 27 percent from deep. His top performance was nine points and two rebounds against Regis on Dec. 7. He also made a career-high two threes at Utah State on Jan. 27. In the classroom, he was named to the MW Academic All-Conference team.
Before Wyoming: Aka Gorski signed with Wyoming in May of 2014. The 6-5, 210-pound shooting guard spent the 2013-14 season on the prep team at Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kan., under the guidance of coach Luke Barnwell.
From the point, he averaged more than 14 points, four assists and four rebounds per game, while shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc. Aka Gorski and the Buffaloes tallied a 22-7 record against junior colleges and other prep schools and ended the season on a 15-game winning streak. Sunrise Christian Academy, which includes high school varsity and junior varsity teams, has had a total of seven other students sign NLIs with NCAA Division I programs in 2014, including Michigan State, Arizona, Wichita State, Ole Miss and Colorado State.
A native of Sweden, Aka Gorski was born and raised in Lund and played for the Uppsala club team. He also played in more than 45 games for the Swedish national team at several levels. During the summer of 2013, he competed for the Swedish under-20 team at the European National Championships, while playing for the under-18 team in the summer of 2012 at the same event. With the U18 team, he was the leading scorer, averaging more than 15 points, five rebounds and two assists per game.
Personal: Alex is the son of Shadia Aka and Piotr Gorski. He has one older brother, Sabastian, and two younger brothers, Adrian and Oliver. He also visited St. Joseph's and Loyola Marymount on recruiting trips. He is majoring in business at Wyoming.
