Biography

UW This Season: Jacob Hollister should be one of the leading returning tight ends in the Mountain West in 2016. 

2015: Hollister proved to be one the Cowboys most reliable targets starting all 12 games for UW. He finished the season with 26 receptions for 355 yards and three touchdowns. Hollister averaged 29.6 yards receiving per game and 13.7 yards per catch. He recorded a career-high 119 yards and scored what proved to be the game-winning touchdown against UNLV in the season finale. His 119 yards was the most by a Cowboy tight end since Mike Jones in 2003. Hollister hauled in five catches for 75 yards and a touchdown against New Mexico. He also added a touchdown against Nevada on Homecoming. 

2014: Appeared in 12 games for the Cowboys making seven starts. He made 17 catches on the season for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Averaged 14.4 yards per reception and 20.3 yards receiving per game. Recorded at least two catches in his last five games of the season. He hauled in his first career touchdown pass on a 66-yard play at Fresno State. Hollister caught a season-high four passes for 75 yards at New Mexico.   

Junior College: Hollister joined the Wyoming Football program in January 2014. He comes to Wyoming with three years of eligibility remaining. He began his college career at the University of Nevada, and redshirted for the Wolf Pack in 2012. In 2013, Hollister transferred to Arizona Western Community College in Yuma, Ariz., where he switched from quarterback to tight end. He started at tight end for Arizona Western as a redshirt freshman, and had 10 receptions for 96 yards and caught one touchdown pass. He was part of an offense that averaged 35.7 points per game to rank No. 14 in the nation, and generated 401.9 yards of total offense per game to rank No. 19 in the nation in 2013. The Matadors also averaged 229.3 yards passing per game to rank No. 13 among all junior colleges in the country. He played for head coach Tom Minnick at Arizona Western. 

High School: An outstanding athlete, he played quarterback in high school at Mountain View High School in Bend, Ore., where he was named the 2011 Oregon Class 5A Player of the Year. Class 5A is the second largest classification in the state of Oregon. Hollister led Mountain View High to the 5A state championship as a senior, and was named First Team All- State. He played for head coach Steve Turner at Mountain View High. Hollister was selected the offensive player of the year for the state and for his conference as a senior. In addition to leading his team to a state championship as a senior, he also led Mountain View High to three-straight conference titles. Hollister completed 62 percent of his passes with 37 touchdowns and just three interceptions as a senior. He holds most of Mountain View’s career passing records, and earned a combined nine varsity letters in football, basketball and baseball. Hollister has a twin brother, Cody, who went to Nevada and Arizona Western with him, and signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Arkansas where he plays wide receiver. 

Personal: He is majoring in business administration at UW.
