Summary

Biography

UW This Season: Eric Nzeocha made a successful transition from tight end to middle linebacker a year ago.  He will enter his senior season having played in 35 career games and started five.  He finished spring drills second on the depth chart at middle linebacker behind fellow senior Lucas Wacha.  Nzeocha is also a valuable special teams performer. 

2015: Appeared in 11 games and started five games in his first season at middle linebacker. He finished the season with 35 total tackles with 20 solo stops and 15 assisted tackles. He also added one tackle for loss. Nzeocha recorded one forced fumble on the season in the Cowboys’ win over Nevada. He added a pass breakup in that contest. Nzeocha made a career-high eight tackles against North Dakota and Air Force. He was credited with a career-high six solo tackles at Washington State. Nzeocha also added six tackles against Eastern Michigan. He was named to the Academic All-Conference team for the third time in his career.  

2014: Nzeocha appeared in all 12 games for the Cowboys at tight end. He finished the season with eight catches for 65 yards. Nzeocha recorded two receptions for 22 yards against New Mexico, with both being career highs. He also recorded the longest reception of his career of 16 yards against the Lobos.  He was once again named Academic All-Conference.  

2013: Nzeocha played in 11 games on special teams for the Cowboys. He was named to the Academic All-Conference team for the first time in his Wyoming career.  

2012: Redshirted.  

High School: Nzeocha played for the Franken Knights Youth Team, a club team in Neusitz, Germany. He also was selected to play on the Junior National Team by the Bavarian Football Association. Nzeocha was part of a German Junior National Team that placed fourth in the U19 European Championship in Spain. Nzeocha had one more year of eligibility available to him to play for the Franken Youth Team, but he chose to bypass his final year of youth football to sign with Wyoming.  

Personal: Born April 1, 1993, he is the son of Antonie Petersen and Chris Nzeocha. He has three older brothers; Steve, Paul and Mark.  Mark was a linebacker for Wyoming from 2011 to 2014 and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft.  He is currently in his second season as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Eric has earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and is currently pursuing a finance degree at UW.
