Career Stats Career Statistics Biography Summary Biography 2015: Appeared in 11 games starting all 11 games as the Pokes’ premier linebacker. He finished the season second on the Cowboys in tackles with 96, as it was a single-season high for Wacha. He recorded 46 solo tackles and 50 assisted tackles. Wacha ranked fifth in the Mountain West and No. 44 in the nation in total tackles at 8.7 per game. He added six tackles for loss for 18 yards while forcing one fumble. Wacha recorded double-digit tackles in three contests. He recorded a career-high 13 tackles against New Mexico. He also added 12 tackles against Colorado State and 10 tackles against Eastern Michigan. He recorded nine tackles and two tackles for loss at Airforce and at San Diego State. He also forced a fumble at San Diego State. 2014: Wacha appeared in all 12 games making four starts on the season. He finished the season with 52 total tackles with 31 solo stops and 21 assisted tackles. He recorded a season-high 12 tackles against Boise State including two tackles for loss. He recorded eight tackles with one tackle for loss. He recorded nine tackles at Michigan State with a tackle for loss. 2013: Wacha had a great season as an 11-game starter at the linebacker spot for UW. He posted 88 tackles for the season, including two TFLs and one sack. He added one pass breakup, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He racked up a career-high 13 tackles versus Colorado State. Against New Mexico, he finished with seven tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup. He led the UW defense versus Idaho with 11 stops and a fumble recovery. 2012: Redshirted. High School: Wacha came to Wyoming from Texarkana, Texas, where he earned First Team All-Northeast Texas and First Team All-District 15-3A honors as a linebacker. His senior season, he recorded 97 tackles, four sacks and intercepted one pass. As a junior, Wacha was selected the District 15-3A Defensive MVP. He also earned All-Northeast Texas as a junior, and was once again First Team All-District 15-3A. Wacha was credited with 108 tackles and 3.5 sacks his junior season. His Pleasant Grove team posted a 6-5 record in 2010 and advanced to the first round of the state playoffs. Wacha also started as a sophomore, recording 103 tackles and three sacks as Pleasant Grove enjoyed a 13-2 season that didn't end until the fourth round of the state playoffs. An outstanding first baseman in baseball, he was the Offensive MVP of District 15-3A his junior year, and was a Second Team All-State Class 3A selection. His sophomore season, Pleasant Grove won the 3A state championship in baseball, and Wacha was named to the All-Tournament team, as well as to the First Team All-District team. Personal: Born May 20, 1993, he is the son of Karen and Tom Wacha. His older brother, Michael, is a professional pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals. He has another older brother, Charley, and a younger sister, Brette. He was also recruited by Arkansas and Baylor. He is pursuing a degree in math/science at UW.
