BOULDER, Colorado (9/30/26) – The University of Wyoming men's golf team wrapped up play at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite on Wednesday. The Cowboys finished 16th with a three-round total of 866 (+26) in a tournament being played at Boulder Country Club.
"It was a tough tournament, but we got better as we went along," head coach
Joe Jensen said. "The course played extremely difficult today, and the guys did well battling, for the most part.
Kellen Ball had a really nice round.
Brody Knowlton played well, and
Jack Newton had a nice day, as well. We improved as the tournament went on and that's what I'm most proud of."
Arkansas State won the tournament with an 813 (-27). Long Beach State and Colorado rounded out the top three at 818 (-22) and 825 (-15), respectively. The Red Wolves' Henry Styles claimed the individual crown at 195 (-15).
Kellen Ball paced the Pokes. He tied for 44th at 214 (+4). Ball was very consistent on Wednesday with a pair of birdies versus just one bogey on the card.
Brody Leid wasn't far behind, sharing 50th at 215 (+5). He closed with a 74 (+4).
Brody Knowlton put forth a decent final round. He carded a 71 (+1) to finish in a share of 61st with a total score of 218 (+8).
Austin Barry took 92nd at 229 (+19), ending his tournament with a 77 (+7).
Conner Scheich placed 93rd at 235 (+25), closing with an 85 (+15).
Jack Newton, who was playing as an individual, had one of the stronger days on Wednesday. He fired a 70 (E) for a three-round total of 220 (+10), which tied him for 71st.
Wyoming is back in action at its first of three host events this season. The Tall City Collegiate runs from Oct. 12-13 at Midland Country Club.
