RENO, Nevada (9/24/26) – The University of Wyoming soccer team has gotten quite comfortable on the road. More evidence to that fact was acquired on Thursday at Mackay Stadium.
The Cowgirls defeated Nevada, 2-0, to improve to 8-2-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in Mountain West Conference play. The Wolf Pack fell to 3-7-0 on the year and 0-1-0 in league action.
"There's always a little bit of nerves going into the first conference road game," head coach
Josh Purdum said. "But when you realize it's just another game, and we prepare the same way, we talk the same way, we walk the same way, we should expect a good performance. Several had to step up, and to go that deep into our bench and get a shutout and a couple goals on the road feels good."
Thursday was the Pokes' sixth consecutive victory, and that matches the program's longest such streak. The last five of those wins have all occurred away from Laramie. In fact, Wyoming is now 6-0-0 on the road this season and that streak of a half dozen road wins is the longest in school history.
Alyssa Glover gave the Cowgirls the early advantage on Thursday, as she inches higher in the history books. She netted a fourth-minute goal, which was assisted on by
Reese Gould. It was Glover's fifth goal this season, 24th of her career, and that's just one behind the program's high mark.
Goalkeeper,
Haley Bartel, already has the school record for shutouts, but blanking Nevada created more distance between her and second place. It was her sixth clean sheet – needing one save to do so – of 2026 and 24th of her career, and that's five clear of second place.
Brooke Brown put the finishing touches on the win over the Wolf Pack. She hit a bullet from distance with her left foot during the 78th minute. It was Brown's second score of the season.
In total, Wyoming owned a 15-2 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in shots on goal. Glover had four shots, while
Isabel Vasco and
Kiley Ballek recorded three and two shots, respectively.
The Pokes remain on the road next week. They travel to UC Davis on Oct. 2 for a 7 p.m. match at Aggie Soccer Field.
