LARAMIE, Wyoming (9/22/26) – The University of Wyoming soccer team kicks off Mountain West Conference play this week. The Cowgirls travel to Nevada on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match at Mackay Stadium. The game will be broadcast on MW+.

With it being the start to league play, it only makes sense to look back on the non-conference portion of the schedule. And it's a noteworthy glance in the recent past.

Wyoming's 7-2-0 record is the best non-conference winning percentage in school history. It included four straight road wins, a record that's still alive, and that's tied for the most consecutive road wins in program history.

It's a lot with which to be proud. But head coach Josh Purdum isn't interested in that stuff right now.  

"We can't look back, we can only look forward," Purdum said. "We can look back at what got us here and who got us here. It's a culmination of how teams have tested us, how we are being asked to do different things and how we've been asked to adapt. And that's a testament to the maturity of the group. They've adapted well, kept the foot on the gas and have showed they want to win every single game."

It's a mature group and it's an offensively deep group, as well. Nine different Cowgirls have scored a goal and three – Alyssa Glover (4), Maddie Burr (3) and Isabel Vasco (3) – have netted at least three goals apiece.

That offense has been more than enough for goalkeeper, Haley Bartel. She has allowed just six goals with 26 saves for a GAA of 0.68, which includes five clean sheets.

Those two elements combined have equated to Wyoming outscoring foes, 18-7, and, 10-1, in second halves. It has also elevated the team to No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches' Pacific Region Poll and No. 68 in the RPI. Both of those are program highs.

"It's great what we've done," Purdum said. "But we are 0-0-0."

Nevada is 3-6-0 and has yet to win at home this season. The Wolf Pack are being outscored, 16-7, on the season, as Leslie Jacobo Duran and Jasmine Navarro are the only two players who have scored multiple times this season with two goals each to their name. Keeper, Mia Collins, has started six of the nine matches, and has surrendered 11 goals with 33 saves for a GAA of 2.00.

The Cowgirls own an 8-4-2 all-time record against Nevada. The series is knotted, 2-2-2, in matches played in Reno. The most recent meeting at Mackay Stadium was a scoreless draw in 2024.

Following the trip to Reno, the Pokes remain on the road the following week. They travel to UC Davis on Oct. 2 for a 7 p.m. match at Aggie Soccer Field.
