POCATELLO, Idaho (Sept. 19, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls finished off a successful weekend and an Orange & Black Classic title behind the strength of a four-set victory over Pacific Saturday morning at Idaho State. Set scores went 25-17, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-22.
Wyoming (7-4) hit .288 in the victory while holding the Tigers to a .164 hitting efficiency. The Cowgirls enjoyed an 11-4 advantage in team blocks and once again had a strong match at the service line. UW recorded seven service aces to Pacific's three.
After falling behind in the first set 4-0, the Cowgirls got it going after that, going on an 11-2 run in the first set and didn't look back from there, cruising to a first set victory. After letting the second set slip away, Wyoming took control midway through the third, going on a 7-2 run to extend its lead to 18-12 in the frame. The Cowgirls ended the third with the final three points to take a two sets to one lead against Pacific.
The fourth set was a bit of a battle for UW to close-out the Tigers. The set featured 13 ties and three lead changes. Trailing 19-18 in the fourth, the Cowgirls went on a 4-0 run to move in front, 22-19. After back-to-back points from Pacific, Wyoming closed the match with three of the final four points to cap the 3-0 weekend.
Paige Lauterwasser led four Cowgirls with 10-plus kills in the victory. Lauterwasser recorded 16 kills and hit .412 in the victory and is now just 16 kills shy of reaching 1,000 career kills. Rylee Heinz had 12 kills on the day and led UW with six total blocks. Emerson Macias and Emma Winter added 10 kills each. Winter hit .304 and added a season-high five total blocks.
Anna Williams had five total blocks of her own against the Tigers and added seven kills while hitting .353 and had a pair of service aces. Sara Quigley tallied a season-high 32 assists on the day to go along with nine digs and three kills. Maddy Stucky registered 18 assists.
In the back row, Rya Fingerlin recorded a career-high 21 digs from her libero position. Fingerlin also had five assists and tied a career-best with two aces. Peyton Carruth's 13 digs were a career-high for her as well.
Wyoming now shifts its focus to Mountain West play next week. The Cowgirls open league action against Mountain West newcomer, UTEP. The Cowgirls and Miners will play Friday night at 6:30 and Saturday at 6 p.m., in Laramie.
