FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Sept. 18, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowgirls opened their fall schedule Friday with day one of the Jon Messick Invitational hosted by Colorado State.

Wyoming newcomer Ivona Ridan won in straight sets in her first match as a Cowgirl. Ridan won 6-2 and 6-2 over Colorado State's Zaria McGinty. Ridan will move onto Saturday's semifinal match in Flight D.

Returning All-Mountain West performers for UW, Silver Bijlsma and Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia both received first round byes Friday and will face Air Force's Chaeyule Kang and CSU's Sorcha Caves, respectively, in Saturday's semifinals in the Flight A bracket. Zlata Nesterova in Flight C and Dilnaz Mashabayeva in the D Flight, also got first round byes.

UW also had four doubles teams compete in day one of the invite. The Cowgirls comprised doubles teams of Madlena Orlova and Mashabayeva, Eugenia Ceinos and Ridan, Bijlsma and Nesterova and Kochelaevskaia and Ruby Young.

Day two in Fort Collins begins at 9 a.m.
