FORT COLLINS, Colorado (9/18/26) – The University of Wyoming men's golf team is back in action this weekend. The Pokes travel to the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, which runs from Saturday through Monday at the United States Air Force Academy.
Two separate tournaments take place concurrently with 18 holes being completed each day. The team competition is contested on the Eisenhower – Blue Course, while the individual tournament is on the Eisenhower – Silver Course. Action gets underway on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.
This marks the Cowboys' second event of the 2026-27 season. They began at the Ram Masters Invite last week where they took 13th as a team.
While it wasn't the finish the coaches or players wanted, they improved each round in Fort Collins. Head coach
Joe Jensen hopes for a similar uptick in Colorado Springs.
"I can't say enough about the group of guys we have," Jensen said. "We are going to work hard and we will improve. We need to get recalibrated and focus on the little things. When you're a young person playing hard golf courses and tournament golf, you have to get reacclimated to that sort of challenge."
Brody Leid, who's the oldest and most experienced on the team, didn't need much acclimation. He led Wyoming at the Ram Masters, just missing out on a top 10 finish, as he tied for 11th at 212 (+2).
The field at Air Force consists of 18 squads. In addition to the Cowboys and Falcons, Colorado, CSUN, Denver, Gonzaga, Northern Colorado, San Jose State, SIU-Edwardsville, Southern Utah, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Utah State, Utah Tech, Utah Valley, UTEP and Weber State are slated to tee it up.
Following the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Wyoming remains on the Front Range. The Cowboys participate in the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite from Sept. 29-30.
