LARAMIE, Wyo.  (August 28, 2026) – The Wyoming Cowboys hit the field for their 18^th practice of the fall on Friday morning inside War Memorial Stadium. The Pokes are into game prep for their season opener at Colorado State next Saturday at 4 p.m. in a contest on the USA Network.
 
What Head Coach Jay Sawvel Had to Say
"We got a lot of work to do still, but the last few days have been good.  A couple of really good practices in a row. Effort's been good, intensity has been good. But I think that, there's reason to believe that we should become a much better team than what we've been, but we've got to do that next Saturday. I think that right now we're in a pretty good place. We need a big day tomorrow, then we get into game week.
 
The Cowboys return some key pieces in the wide receiver room this season. Deion DeBlanc had 17 catches a season ago to lead all returners. Jackson Holman added 13 receptions for 139 yards, as that number leads all returners.

Eric Richardson has had a strong fall and added 10 catches for 112 yards last season, as he also added a score. Charlie Coenen, a veteran for the Pokes had five catches for 99 yards including a touchdown grab against San Jose State. Bricen Brantley added five catches as well a season ago.

Ke'Lyn Washom redshirted last season and will add to depth with the likes of Joaquin Sandoval and Pierre "PJ" Jackson.

The Pokes added talent to the room in the likes of transfer Justin Popovich. He had 55 catches for nearly 700 yards last season at the Division II level. UW also added talented freshmen in Jayden Williams, Jarell Gary and Jordan Styles.
